Most classes have three room parents that work together throughout the school year. The room parents work with the teacher on planning and coordinating classroom parties as well as the parent participation for the event, help schedule volunteers for field trips and often times, organize a class gift.
HOW ARE ROOM PARENTS CHOSEN?
In the event that we have more volunteers than necessary, a lottery is held to determine the room parents. If you are selected, please note that there will be a room parent meeting on Monday, August 29 at 3:15p in the cafeteria. If you are not selected, you will be on a waiting list in the event that a room parent cannot fulfill their duties during the school year.
WHAT THE HECK IS A GRADE LEVEL CHAIRPERSON?
The grade level chairperson acts as a liaison between the room parents for a particular grade and other PTA committees. Preference is given to those with prior room parent experience. It is possible to be a grade level chair without being a room parent. In addition, each Grade Level Chair sets up the Mustang Mingler for their class; simply set a time and location for a place to meet! No hosting or paying...just meeting and mingling with other parents in your class! The 4th Grade Level Chairperson Chairs the 4th Grade Farewell Party.
