Confessions From The President’s Desk:
Being your PTA President is not an easy job. Let’s face it: Its not glamorous. And sometimes, it’s not even fun. It may look easy, but it’s work—important work.
During the course of this school year, many parents have asked me, “How do you do it?” Typically, my answer lies somewhere around the sentiments of—“I just keep looking forward,” or “It’s not really that bad.” But I must confess. Right here, to everybody. I’m going to set the record straight, once and for all. This is how I (and many presidents before me) do it:
There is an incredible group of dedicated volunteers working around us at all times!
Whether you know it or not, there are always people working on behalf of YOUR children. The amount of dedication that comes from every PTA volunteer is completely awe-inspiring: from your Sister School Chairperson, to your Red Gala Committee….and everywhere in between. Whether they work for your children at night behind the scenes or you see them daily with their names on everything--EVERYONE has a role and everyone has a place in this great organization we call our Parent Teacher Association. Likewise, EVERY CHILD benefits from all the work done—your children and my children.
Please consider yourself or a friend (or both!) at this time of year, as our Nominating Committee is working hard to fill the positions needed to continue to support our school and our children with quality programming and events we've all come to know and love.
As I leave you with the recap below, of all things PTA-past and present, I would like to make my final two Confessions From the President’s Desk…and quite possibly the most important ones:
1. The President’s work is also meaningful and fun!
2. I don’t have a clue what I’m wearing to the Red Gala!
If you have any suggestions for me (keep it clean, people), want to share your ensemble ideas or want my candid advice, please email me! This is an opportunity I can’t pass up to have fun with my presidency ‘work’. president@romonapta.org
